SDG Learning Modules
The Learning team at UCLG has developed three unique guides which aim to create a more profound understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Module 1, available here, provides an introduction to the SDGs. It is based on participatory methodologies and open learning, and enables network facilitators in various associations to run workshops, which effectively raise awareness about the SDGs. It is primarily targeted at members of local and regional governments, as well as local government associations and their various relevant partners.
Module 2 (not yet available) focuses on the alignment of public policies with the SDGs. It provides a guide for all stages of this process, from planning to implementation to reporting. In order to allow regional variety, the module works on strategic, integral and non-sectoral plans that aim to be as broad as possible. It is primarily targeted at local and regional government associations (LRGAs) and local government members, but due to its inclusive approach, it is also suitable for representatives of the private sector, civil society and academia.
Module 3 (not yet available) concentrates on the role of local government associations in reporting to Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs). The module seeks to provide guidance to LRGAs which are committed to contributing to the VNRs to be presented at the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) of the United Nations over the coming years. To this purpose, the module is chiefly aimed at LRGAs, as well as other relevant government networks which can support LRGA leaders in being actively involved in the SDG monitoring and reporting process, both at the national and international levels.
